What a gorgeous beach and natural area! We went there after the official end of tourist season, so we couldn't get inside the Lighthouse here, but we could...

Nice beach, seemed like a lovely park. It was really offputting that you have to pay to get in. Maybe this is something they do in all Michigan State...

Why isn't trapping allowed for rabbits and hares? Also why are they not considered a fur bearing animal? Thanks

(I KNOW HOW THE MICHIGAN DNR CAN RAISE ALOT OF MONEY) My husband just came up with the idea.....LOL Have a idea on how the Michigan DNR can start raising money. It my sound dumb to some but its funny if you think about it. Michigan would be the first state in the U.S. to do it hell we would be the only state in the world to do it. And i think they would make alot of money off of it. We should start for this year having "Sasquatch" hunting licence. It would only cost the DNR the ink to have them printed up in the machine and have some dumb rules on it in the 2012 Michigan Hunting & Trapping Digest Book because i could see someone in the woods in a blind or treestand..lol You could sale them for around $30.00 each. And i even would buy a few to just say i have one.

Got question... is it legal to spear smelt on Higgins lake during the winter spearing season? The digest says yes to non trout lakes on page 12. Higgins is a lake that is stocked with trout and is a type E lake. But on page 22 it says type A, D, and B* lakes marked with an asterisk are designated trout lakes which seems to excludes type E lakes from being a trout lake. I'm being asked this question by several fisherman. Any help would be appreciated.

We just had 6 Bald Eagles, on the ice, in front of our house. I tried to load the entire album to your DNR page, but your security settings are prohibitive. There were 2 adults and 4 juveniles! I've never seen this many, at once, on our lake.

Has anyone fished or heard of any steelhead activity at either Yates park or huroc recently? Want to make one last trip before it is too cold.
