Many parks are pet friendly, but they have different rules about where your four-legged friends can go. Call ahead to confirm pets are allowed and what the restrictions are so that there are not complications once you arrive.  All vaccinations must be current.

Here is some really exciting news for you pet lovers who have a hard time finding a place to take your pet to play in the water.  In the Summer of 2012 Tawas Point State Park will open a pet friendly beach area on the bay side of the point.  It will be a great place to bring your dog on those hot days to get cooled off.  For more information call the park at 989 362-5041.

Follow these tips to enjoy the parks with your pets: Keep your pet controlled, on a 6-foot or shorter leash. Put pet food inside at night so other animals don’t get to it.

Be respectful of others: Clean up after pets, no matter if you are by the visitor center or out in the backwoods. Keep your pets quiet and calm.
