Off Highway

Insider Tips

Getting off the beaten path is a great way to explore and have fun. It may seem obvious, but find out what capabilities your park has for OHVs (Off Highway Vehicles). Some only allow certain types, on certain trails, at certain speeds, during certain times of the year, etc. Make sure you have the right clearance before riding and only use OHV-approved trails/areas.

OHV - ID

Idaho boasts one of the nation's largest trail systems, with more than 15,000 miles of adventurous riding for off- highway vehicles. Be sure to try the OHV Recreation Area at Land of the Yankee Fork State Park. Remember: Stay on trails and don't cut switchbacks, take shortcuts or create new trails. ORV - MO

Off-road vehicle enthusiasts have two state parks to make the most of their power. St. Joe State Park offers the largest ORV area in the Midwest and is popular with motorcycles, ATVs, dune buggies, and four-wheel drive vehicles. Finger Lakes State Park allows motorcycles and ATVs.

Packing

Be prepared. Make sure to carry extra gas, along with your other essentials (water, food, sunscreen, etc.), and tie them down. Looking back to see your pack flying off your OHV is never a pleasant site.
