Insider Tips
Many parks have great local resources nearby. Local restaurants, activities, recreation and fun can enhance your park visit. Make a schedule of all the sights you want to see each day, and plan accordingly for things outside the park. If you know there is something you want to do outside the park, pick a time that doesn’t detract from your outdoor adventures.
Know the area. Pick up a map of any new area, and ask for any updates. The parks often have current maps of the area, and you can easily know how far any of the nearby attractions are. If you have a ten-year-old map or GPS that hasn’t been updated, you could end up very lost, very fast.

Ask those who know best. Talk to the rangers about nearby hotspots. While the park itself will be a blast, there’s no reason to miss out on a concert, performance or shopping center just because it’s outside the park limits. Events also change with the seasons, so a ranger can tell you what you should check out no matter what time of year it is.
