Wilderness Games and Activities

There are many fun ways to get kids engaged while outside. Create a nature bingo card, play “I Spy,” or, for kids who love technology, try geocaching. If you or your family doesn’t like the gym, turn the nearest park or forest into your training ground. Most exercise routines are adaptable to trails, forests, or picnic areas.

Disc golf, anyone? - GA

Fun for all ages, this sport is similar to regular golf and involves throwing Frisbee-style discs into metal baskets. The object of this game is to play a course from beginning to end, in the fewest number of throws of the disc. Our courses are located at Cloudland Canyon State Park, Fort Yargo State Park, Georgia Veterans State Park, and Richard B. Russell State Park.

Disc Golf - ID

This fun sport is increasing in popularity, and several parks are installing courses this year. To play, use a Frisbee or special disc and try to throw it into a mounted basket several hundred yards away. Like golf, the fewer strokes (throws) the better. Check out the courses at Farragut, Eagle Island, Lake Walcott, and Massacre Rocks.
